Save The Delaware River

I have many fond memories of the Delaware River from my childhood. I remember when you could actually swim in it, and feel safe.  My older brother Buddy and his friends had several favorite places along the Delaware to swim from Phillipsburg to Brainards, NJ.  They gave them names like the Swing, Mud Hole, and Sunny Beach.  Mom would load us all into the car and off we would go to the S.S.Diane in Hutchison a bar/restaurant that had a dock, and beach.  We would swim there, and eat hamburgers or hot dogs they sold from an outside walk up window.  Those were the days, of simple pleasures when a family with five kids could have fun on a shoe string.  Please, help preserve the beautiful Delaware River, it would be nice for our grandchildren to one day write about their experiences on the Delaware.  There is an even more important issue at hand and that is the 15 million people who drink Delaware River water, and the millions who breathe the air, eat the fish, and feed from the lands in the River’s watershed.

Please watch this video and then call the numbers below and let your voice be heard!

Questions: savethedelawareriver@gmail.com and/or continue to check back. The members of the DRBC – the Governors of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware and the Army Corps of Engineers as the federal representative – will decide the future of this Watershed, the Wild and Scenic Delaware River, and the water supply for over 15 million people with their action on November 21. How can they allow drilling and fracking to start with weak regulations that don’t protect our drinking water and our watersheds? We need to tell them “Don’t Drill the Delaware!” Keep checking back for updates and go to: www.delawareriverkeeper.org and our other supporting organization.

Some may cry out, "It will put people to work!" I say there are many alternative energy sources that can put people to work! Look what one farmer did:  http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2008/06/26/methane_digester/
