How
could that be possible? How can a church respect the US Constitution
and yet disagree with the Republican Supreme Court Justice Harry
Blackmun who in 1973, authored the Court's opinion in Roe v. Wade,
invalidating a Texas statute making it a felony to administer an
abortion in most circumstances. The Court's judgment in the companion
case of Doe v. Bolton held a less restrictive Georgia law to be
unconstitutional also. Both decisions were based on the right to privacy
announced in Griswold v. Connecticut (1965) and remain the primary
basis for the constitutional right to abortion in the United States. Roe
caused an immediate uproar, and Blackmun's opinion made him a target
for criticism by opponents of abortion, receiving voluminous negative
mail and death threats over the case. Blackmun was nominated to the
Supreme Court by President Richard M. Nixon on April 14, 1970, and was
confirmed by the Senate on May 12, 1970, by a 94–0 vote What party does
the Catholic Church endorse today and WHY? I ask you all to stop being
Sheeples, learn about the REAL facts and use your own mind and pray for
proper guidance. I too am against Abortion but I also believe that the
government stay out of dictating to any religion. I would also be
against any religion dictating to anyone's health care and heath care
rights! I don't like that an employer feels they have a right to dictate
to the personal issues and decisions of an employee. There are laws
that provide for employees following employer's codes of ethics so use
them to weed out an employee you feel breaks those codes! I once worked
for a county agency with strict ethical laws to abide by, like anonymity
of the clients. If I broke that rule I could be fired.
